2018 is Your Year

Hey mama, I just wanted to let you know that 2018 is your year. It is the year in which you will accomplish goals, spend time with loved ones, and make time for yourself.

How do I know?

Because you know how to make it happen. Or at least you will when you finish reading this post.

The best way to guarantee success in the coming year is to actually believe that you will achieve it. Now, I am not a very woo woo person. In fact I pride myself on logical thinking, practical planning, and overall methodical. But even I cannot ignore the power of mindset.

While you don't need to wait until the new year to set goals, it is often a convenient time to regroup from the mad rush of the holidays. In order to achieve these goals, there is planning involved, and breaking down the goal into smaller pieces, achieving mini goals along the way, and lots of other practical steps. You can read my post on how to set goals here

But in order to stay on track and stay motivated, there is something that is even more important.

Mindset.

You need to go into a project believing that it will be successful, that you can do it. You may not have all the answers yet and you may need help along the way, but believing that you can do it is essential.

The correct mindset is everything. Henry Ford said, "Whether you think you can or whether you think you can't, you're right." Even if you have all the steps laid out in front of you, if you don't believe you can do it, you may never start. And if you do start you will lack to motivation to put your all in and complete the project or reach the goal.

On the other hand, even if you don't yet know how you will complete everything, believing that you can figure it out or ask the right people for help can mean the difference between achieving your goals in 2018 or adding them to your list again in 2019.

One way to stay positive and motivated is to post reminders to yourself. You frame positive mantras and display them in your home, or pick a word of the year that you display.  A word of the year is something that you pick to describe how you want to be or what you want to do in the coming year.

For example, you may pick the word focus if you are always running around from one great idea to another without actually completing anything. Great ideas are only great if you are able to actually complete them.

Or, you may pick the word reliable if you are always over committing and then having to bow out of things. Your goal related to this may be to do less but more meaningful things this year. Maybe not volunteer for everything, but do as much as you can when you do volunteer.

There are tons of other words you can pick, you get the idea.

I created 2 little printable that you can print out to help you get and stay motivated in 2018. Just fill out the form below to get access to these to printable to post in your bedroom, or on your desk, or anywhere you need a little motivation.
