Chocolate Chocolate Chip Christmas CookiesÂ
Every year at Christmastime we make time to bake cookies together. One recipe in particular, I have been making since I was in grammar school. They are the most delicious Chocolate Chocolate Chip cookies ever. Now I won't proclaim to be some fabulous baker, but these really are delicious. What's more, one recipe makes about 5 dozen so you really get good bang for your buck. They are great to package up and give as gifts or to bring to parties. So let me take you though our Sunday of baking!
First thing after church, we headed on over to Dollar General. They currently have discounts on Nestles products and we needed to stock up on semi sweet morsels. Our cookie recipe calls for 2 bags!
We also picked up a stocking stuffer for Hails, a "big boy toy" for T and a few other odds and ends. Lastly, we picked up Digiorno's Pizza because who wants to cook after a full afternoon of baking! Tyler grabbed the chocolate morsels and informed me that they are "really heavy."
Then we headed home to bake!
Here is what you'll need:
2 cups all purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
2 12 oz packages of Nestles Semi Sweet Chocolate Morsels
3/4 cup butter or margarine, softened
3/4 cup sugar
2 eggs
How to make em:
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
In a medium bowl, mix the flour, baking soda and salt.
In another medium bowl, put one package of Nestles chocolate morsels. Microwave on high for 1.5 minutes. Stir. Then microwave for another 30 seconds and stir. It should become smooth. Set aside to cool.
In a large mixer bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Then add the eggs and beat well.
Blend in the melted chocolate.
Slowly add the flour mixture, mixing well. Note: this is the point at which your toddler may encourage you to just dump it in the mixer. Do not listen! No good can come of this unless you consider a big mess good.
Finally, stir in the second bag of Nestles chocolate morsels. Now your cookies are ready for baking.
Drop spoonfuls of dough onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 8-9 minutes. Don't over bake! The cookies should be soft.
Let the cookies cool before removing them from the cookie sheet and placing them on a wire rack. Let cool completely or just start eating... err taste testing them.
You should get a good 5 dozen from this recipe. Thus it is a great recipe for parties or breaking up into gifts.
Here's our little taste tester. She loved them!
And here are our cookies!
Now that you have the recipe for the best Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies ever, head on over to Dollar General for discounts on Nestles Toll House Morsels and a bunch of other Nestles products as well as some DiGiorno Rising Crust Pizza. You can check it out here!
Happy baking!!
Cheers,
Emily
